  1. I currently have an apple 23"cinema display. I am purchasing a new mac pro this week.
I'm wondering if any one has an opinion on using two 23" screens vs one 30" screen?

    Thanks,

  2. Well - the 23" is 2,304,000 pixels and two would get you 4,608,000. The 30" is 4,096,000. Two 23" will give you more real-estate from a pixel perspective, but it's broken into those two displays. Some people LOVE that, since it provides a way to naturally isolate different work in different monitors. I for one have Mail.app open all the time in another monitor.

The advantage on the 30" is that you get 1,600 pixels of vertical resolution. It's spacious, in fact I'm typing this response on one. I love it.

If you can't think of a reason to need the 1,600 pixels vertically, I'd probably say do the 23". However, the best option would be a 30" and a 23". :-)

I'm running a 30" in the middle, plus two 20" widescreen panels on either side and love it.

  3. Thanks Jamie,
I know I would love the 30" I'm just trying to wrap my head around the cost.

  4. What are the costs of the 23 and 30 inch approximately, and what is the approximate percentage of coverage of the adobe 98 RGB colorspace?

I've got a 30" at work and at home have a 23" and 24". Most often, I prefer the two separate monitors as it allows me to use each monitor for separate tasks and with LR 2.0, it has enhanced that ability. That said, there is truly something stunning about using a 30" display. I'd say it's more a choice of how you like to work.

  6. Thanks Guys,
I ended up going for a second 23" in a dual monitor configuration.
So far it's awesome. My only complaint is that the new 23" is noticeably crisper and brighter then my 4 year old 23".
I read it was highly possible new monitors will be released this Jan so I decided to wait on the 30"
